I have to say, going through my first month of college has been nearly a breeze. Not to say that classes are easy, but I've found adjusting to college life quite easy. As a freshman, there have been a lot of groups on campus that are showing me the ropes and helping me get a move on.
Yesterday, I attended a meeting for MUTV's 23 News. In the spur of the moment (after running 15 minutes late) I picked up my first package! This Monday, I will be interviewing comedian Melissa Villasenor after her performance at Memorial Student Union. With luck, my interview could be aired on MUTV!
Second, I have been meeting with Mizzou's National Association of Black Journalists. Thus far, I've gotten a few broadcasting tips and met some pretty awesome people who are going into the journalism field as well.
Lastly, (I'll combine these two) I've been doing a bit of work study at the Columbia Missourian, and I'm looking forward to writing for The Maneater. I'm not writing for the Missourian (right now), but just the opportunity to be there is amazing enough.
It's only the fourth week of school and I'm already tied with projects. Oh, and as a bonus, I've also visited Mizzou's KCOU FM radio station. I've been on-air twice to be interviewed about my freshman experience at Mizzou. If this is only the first 4 weeks, what will the next 4 years have to bring?
