The holidays are just around the corner, and that means it's time to buy your loved ones the coolest gadgets on the block. You wonder what you could buy this season, and think to yourseld
"Boy, wouldn't it be cool to have a small portable device that'd be there whenever you need it, to do whatever you want? What if this device could help you make calls, be notified about emails and, heck, even check the time?" Well Samsung has got the answer for you. Presenting their new Galaxy Gear; a smart watch that does all that and more!
The problem is, don't we already have this kind of technology? A "cell phone" perhaps?
My big question, then, is why did Samsung feel the need to create a smart watch, when cell phones have had their feet deep-rooted in this industry for a while now?
Maybe a few decades ago, in an era of James Bond gadgets and Get Smart shoe-phones, a device such as a smart watch would seem out of this world. Of course I'm not from this era, but I could imagine it had been pretty cool to fantasize about having an every-day household item such as a watch become a unique communication device. Now, that kind of idea is past its prime as cell phones have clearly dominated the division of technological communications.
I've tried to read up around the interwebs about the glory of the smart watch, but I've only found one real advantage of having this futuristic communication device on your wrist: you get to look like a kick-butt commander of the Starship Enterprise!
